Special Vintage Race Boat Program

The past will come alive this summer when the vintage race boats of bygone eras return again to Madison. The vintage boats will participate in the Friday night parade, will be on display all weekend, and will run demonstration laps on the historic Madison race course.  In addition to seeing and hearing these unique and beautiful boats run on the race course, spectators are invited to take a guided pit tour to view them close-up in the Vintage pit area.

I have been advised by the American Powerboat Association (APBA) that Madison's Vintage & 2.5 Stock programs will not be sanctioned by APBA for 2006.

Please be advised that insurance will be provided and these classes will be covered by K & K insurance through ABRA.  Also be advised that both Vintage & 2.5 Stocks WILL be inspected by APBA inspectors for the Madison Event.  As in years past, you will be required to pass these inspections or you will not be allowed to participate on the water.  Also, as in years past, there will be no static display boats.  All boats will be expected to participate in on water activities unless you are broken.  Safety is of top priority and will be strictly enforced, so make sure that your boats are ready.

As mentioned in my previous announcement the Madison Board of Directors have asked for ten 7-Litres/Grand Prix's.  We will also have 3 Jersey Speed Skiffs in attendance.  If the 10 slots can't be filled by 7-Litres & Grand Prix's, the Board of Directors will go to the smaller classes to finish filling the field.

Please submit your "Letter of Intent" to Vintage Chairman Joe Johnson at the following e-mail address: drummerjoe_55@yahoo.com

I look forward to receiving your "Letters of Intent".  For those of you who have already sent in your "Letter of Intent", I have them on file and they will be given every consideration.

Thanks,
Joe Johnson

2006 Madison Regatta Vintage Event

After much discussion, the Madison Regatta Board of Directors have elected to go with a 2-day program for 2006.  With limited amount of water time for the 2 day program the Madison Board of Directors have decided that a vintage program & a 2.5 stock program will be added to compliment the Unlimited hydroplane program.

Again, with limited amount of water time, the Board of Directors have asked that ten (10) 7-Litres/GP's or a combination thereof, along with three (3) Jersey Speed Skiffs be invited to the Madison Regatta for 2006.  If a field of ten (10) 7-Litres/GP's cannot be assembled, the remaining slots will be filled with hydros from other classes. Those slots will be filled from a list of owners who submit a "Letter of Intent" to Vintage Chairman Joe Johnson.  These "Letters of Intent" will be reviewed and the field of ten (10) hydros will be selected by the Board of Directors.

If you are interested in participating in the 2006 Madison Regatta Vintage Event please submit a "Letter of Intent" to the Madison Vintage Chairman, Joe Johnson at the following e-mail address:
drummerjoe_55@yahoo.com

Sincerely,

Madison Regatta Board of Directors

*Safety Inspection Warning*

A note to all participants !!!

For insurance and safety reasons, to run your vintage race boat at speed on the course, you must be a current APBA member (American Power Boat Association) and your vintage boat must qualify and pass our APBA Safety Inspection. If you do not pass Safety Inspection, you will stay on the trailer. Safety is the #1 priority of this event.
