Special Vintage Race Boat Program

The past will come alive this summer when the vintage race boats of bygone eras return again to Madison. The vintage boats will participate in the Friday night parade, will be on display all weekend, and will run demonstration laps on the historic Madison race course.  In addition to seeing and hearing these unique and beautiful boats run on the race course, spectators are invited to take a guided pit tour to view them close-up in the Vintage pit area.

*Vintage Press Release from Joe Johnson*

June 21, 2005

I wanted to let you know that the river is in the best shape that I've seen it in the last ten years.  It is a little low, but better low than high.

Regatta Fever has taken a full hold on Madison.  We will start our week of festivities this coming Saturday with the crowning of the 2005 Madison Regatta Queen.  Some kind of festivities will be held each and every night of race week.

Madison will have plenty of action on the water all three days.  We are expecting 9 Unlimiteds, 20 Vintage and eight 2.5 Stock hydros.  We will also have the Air Show on Saturday & Sunday.  As usual the Friday night parade will again be huge, and brother Dave and wife Jean will open their home to us with his customary "After the Parade" party.  (I can't wait to see what he will come up with this year).  On Saturday evening we will again have our meal next to Vintage Central and prepare for the Fireworks that will again be sponsored by our local American Legion Post # 9.  If you see these guys when they present the colors, please thank them for their support.  Sunday will be wild & wooly as usual.  This is always a action packed day with a full slate of racing.

Don't forget.......bring your lawn chair and sunscreen !!!

Looking forward to seeing everyone on Thursday for registration.

Best to all,
Joe Johnson
