I have received the Credential Forms for Madison. I will e-mail the Credential Forms to those of you who have computers, for those who don't have computers, I will be snail mailing them by the end of the week.
I am asking that you read them VERY CAREFULLY. If you have any questions, now is the time to ask. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions that you might have.
When you have filled out your Credential Form (only the Credential Form) return it to the address that I have marked. Also include your $ 100.00 registration fee at this time. If you need extra wristbands, NOW is the time to order them. Instructions for ordering extra wristbands is listed. Also, if you will be arriving by motor home you can make RV reservations per the instructions. If you are coming by motor home I will need to know so that I can make arrangements for a tow vehicle for your boat in Friday nights parade.
Again, make sure that your boat is ready before you get to Madison. Make sure that you have gone over all of the safety equipment. If the boat doesn't pass inspection.....it will sit on the trailer !!!!!!
Safety is our # 1 concern.
I look forward to seeing everyone in Madison.

Press Release - 1/23/2004
WELCOME to the 2004:
Madison Regatta - Bob Snelling Vintage Memorial Event
I want to say THANK YOU to all 53 teams that turned in "Letters of Intent" for this years event. I would have liked to have had every team come to Madison. However, space availability prevented this. I encourage you to apply again next year. For the 23 teams that weren't chosen, you will be placed on the "Stand-By List". If for any reason a team cancels or cannot make it to the event, that team will be replaced with a team from the "Stand-By List". I will make every attempt possible to notify replacement teams as quickly as possible.
The Selection Committee was put to task to make a final choice of the 30 boats that were invited. This years "Intent List" was the biggest that we have ever received. The Madison Regatta is very proud to know that so many teams consider Madison as one of their choices on the APBA Vintage Circuit.
I am once again proud to serve as the Vintage Chairman for the 2004 Madison Regatta Vintage Event. The 2003 Madison Vintage Event was special in it's own way, and we look forward to an even better 2004 event. At this years event you will witness Unlimited Hydroplanes, Inboard 2.5 Litre Hydro, Vintage Hydroplanes and Vintage Jersey Speed Skiffs. There are always fast speeds and the excitement of the famous roar of the automotive engines. To hear the "Thunder in the hills" is an amazing thrill, and one that you will not soon forget. As a member of the Madison Regatta and the Vintage Chairman of this event I sincerely hope that your stay in Madison will be an enjoyable one.
Again in 2004 each team will receive $ 300.00 tow money, a participation plaque and three sets of wristbands. Each member of the team MUST wear an Admission wristband AND a Hot Pit wristband. This means that each team will receive enough wristbands for three (3) team members. If you need more Admission wristbands and Hot Pit wristbands you should include your order with your returned Credential Form. See Credential Form for instructions.
Credential Forms will be emailed to those teams that can download them. For those of you who cannot download them please advise me and I will mail them to you.
I will have a Welcome / Registration Tent set up at the top of the pit entrance. You will register there and pick up your information packets. My driving instructions are very explicit, and will take you right to the registration tent.
As an added feature you may make reservations in the VIP Area. Information on the VIP Area can be found on the Madison Regatta Website - www.madisonregatta.com
If you will be arriving in Madison via motor-home you can make RV parking reservations with the Madison Regatta Office (812-265-5000). I will also need to be notified if you are coming via motor-home so I can make arrangements for a vehicle to pull your boat in the Friday night parade.
No motor-homes will be allowed in the pit area !!!!
I highly recommend that you make Hotel / Motel reservations EARLY. Rooms will be very scarce or non-existent when Regatta time rolls around. A list of Hotels/Motels around the Madison area can be found on the same page as my driving instructions.
I also urge all teams and family members to bring lawn chairs & sun tan lotion. Madison becomes very hot in the summertime.
SPECIAL NOTICE..................
1) If you do not show up for the event without notifying me, you will forfeit your registration fee.
2) NO SMOKING IN THE PITS !!!!!!!!
3) NO ALCOHOL WILL BE CONSUMED UNTIL AFTER THE RACE COURSE IS CLOSED FOR THE DAY !!!!!! NO EXCEPTIONS !!!!!!
4) All boats will be inspected. Your boat and equipment MUST pass inspection or it will remain on the trailer. Safety is priority # 1 at this event !!!!!! NO EXCEPTIONS !!!! HAVE YOUR EQUIPMENT READY. A copy of the Safety Form can be found on our Madison 2004 Vintage Page
5) No pets will be allowed past the admission gates !!!!!
6) Drivers meetings on Friday, Saturday & Sunday are MANDATORY !!!!!!!

Letters of Intent
for
2004 Madison Regatta
I want to congratulate all the vintage owners for a GREAT 2003 season. At Madison we had 13 drivers that were inducted into the 100 MPH Club, WAY TO GO GUYS !!!!
At the Louisville "Roar on the River" Event I was proud to induct one more member of the 100 MPH Club. For the first time at any event, I inducted four members into the Kilo Mile Club. To all of you who were inducted into the clubs, I say "Congratulations and a job Well Done".
Now that the 2003 season is behind us, I have started preparing for the 2004 Madison Regatta Vintage Event.
Again in 2004 the Madison Regatta Vintage Event will be a "Invitation Only" Event. The Madison Regatta will again be a three (3) day event, July 2, 3 & 4. We again look forward to participating in the Friday night parade, and the "After the Parade Party" at the home of Dave & Jean Johnson. This is one food feast that you don't want to let slip bye. Again we are looking at the Saturday night Fire Works Program, this is a program that everyone enjoys. The course schedule will not be completed until a later date. When I find out our "water times" I will advise you.
There are some changes for the 2004 event. PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING VERY CAREFULLY !!!!!
1) You MUST send in a "Letter of Intent" if you are interested in attending the 2004 Madison Event.
2) IF you are invited, you MUST complete and return the Credential Form by the specified date.
3) Again there will be a $ 100 registration fee that MUST accompany your returned Credential Form.
4) If you are invited and don't show up for the event, you will forfeit your $ 100 registration fee.
5) Due to " Vintage Pit Area Space" I'm sorry to say that Static Displays will not be available. If you are invited you will be expected to be an active participant in this event.
6) ALL Vintage hydros/drivers MUST be paid members of the APBA Vintage & Historic Division.
7) Your hydro and equipment MUST pass Inspection !!!!! BE PREPARED !!!!!!
We MUST remember that the Vintage Event works in conjunction with HYDRO/PROP. The Unlimited hydroplanes have first priority of "water time". If for any reason any vintage "water time" is postponed, I will work directly with the APBA Referee to have this "water time" rescheduled if at all possible. ALL decisions of the APBA Referee will be final.
I want to say a big THANK YOU to Bill John for taking care of our Madison Vintage Web-site. Without his dedicated help and assistance my messages would not be available to you. THANKS BILL.
A big THANK YOU also to Phil Spruit for his help and the information that he provides to us at the VINTAGE HYDROPLANE web-site. THANKS PHIL.
I also want to say THANKS to our APBA Vintage Inspectors. You guys do a fine job in making our events safe !!! THANKS
I will be making additional announcements as they become available. Please check the Madison Vintage web-site and the Vintage Hydroplane web-site
I look forward to seeing everyone at Madison. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at the following numbers:
