Lake George Vintage Race Boat Regatta - 2006
Teri and Jean Hoffman invited us to beautiful Lake George, NY to participate in their vintage regatta on September 22-23, 2006
This event was sanctioned by the APBA Vintage & Historic Division.
Many thanks to event organizers Teri and Jean Hoffman for another great Lake George Vintage Race Boat Regatta. The amount of work and time it takes to put on a sanctioned APBA vintage event is unbelievable, and we applaud Teri and Jean for another first class event.
The public docks were a beautiful setting for our beloved vintage race boats. The fun started on Friday morning, September 22nd with a huge hot air balloon rendezvous. In the afternoon we had a parade of our vintage race boats right through Lake George village, followed in the evening with the infamous feast at the lakeside home of Jean Hoffman. Lots of good friends and lots of good food, and Brian Small's chili was tasty and filling !!!
Then on Saturday morning we started early with course setup, APBA Safety Inspections, drivers meeting and launching. We got a little whet, but we ran vintage heats on the course all day long. We all ran hard and had lots of water time. Special thanks to Brian Small's APBA Safety/Rescue Team for keeping us safe, and to Larry Lauterbach for running our vintage heats. Nice job guys.
Lake George is an APBA sanctioned event, and is held every other year, alternating with the Wolfeboro Vintage Race Boat Regatta. So next September, 2007 the APBA vintage event will in Wolfeboro, NH, followed by the next Lake George vintage event in September, 2008 - make your calendars and don't miss this one !!!
