Hepcat

A 24 foot, 1930 Chris Craft
Owner - Hank Why
Hepcat is a 1930 Chris Craft Runabout that began
life on Lake Placid in the Adirondack Mountains of New York under the name of
Pilgrim III. George Johnson acquired it in the 1980’s with the intent of making
it into his “Mt. Dora” Chris Craft.
After much discussion, Hank and Kathy Why acquired the
un-restored hull in 1990. A five year restoration followed which included all new
interior wood as well as a fresh 235 HP Crusader. It has become our boat of
choice on Lake because of its ride and performance. The bottom is a 72-year-old
original having only been refastened. Our family and grandchildren will be
always be indebted to George for providing the opportunity for us to own and
enjoy this most popular Chris Craft classic.
Thanks to Hank & Kathy Why for the photo and
text.
